Drug Abuse
What is drug abuse?
Drug abuse is when the drug is used for different purpose than intended to or in excessive amount. Drug abuse can inlove illegal drugs as well as medicines. There are many problems associated with drug abuse such as drug tolerance, dependence and addiction.
The impact of drug abuse can be far reaching:
- Stroke
- Cancer
- HIV/ AIDS
- Cardiovascular disease
- Mental disorders
- Lung disease
Heroin
Heroin is a highly addictive opioid. Using heroin can cause a person to experience seizures, psychosis and hallucinations. Heroin when it's injected can also spread disease such as human immunodeficiency virus ( HIV) and hepatitis.
Cocaine
Cocaine, even when taken in small doses, is a very dangerous stimulan. It induces euphoria, increase blood pressure and accelerate the heart rate. Using cocaine can cause a person to experience fatal heart strokes or heart attacks.
Crack
Crack is a potent from cocaine that people smoke to create a short and intense euphoric sensation. Because of how inexpensive crack is, the abuse rates of crack are high. unfortunately though, abusing crack leads to immediate addiction.
Alcohol
Alcohol is one of other types of drug that is common due to it's accessibility. Abusing alcohol can cause psychological, physical and social problems. It can also lead to the destruction of relationships, friendships and marriages.
